How it works
Subsidized tutoring is provided to struggling students in need. Students are reviewed and taken on as tutees based on an assessment, review of IEP or brief conversation with a teacher, and their willingness to commit to consistent meeting. Tutoring sessions will take place virtually or in-person as determined by participants. Instruction is individualized to the specific needs of the student and incorporates multisensory, systematic, and research based methods to facilitate success. Students will be reevaluated quarterly to determine progress, provide feedback to parents, and modify instruction as needed.
One of the most important aspects of progress is consistency. Just as tutors commit to families and agree to meet regularly for a determined time period, we expect families to honor their commitment with the same level of seriousness. Therefore, students that miss 2 sessions consecutively excluding uncontrollable circumstances will be removed from the program in order to make room for other students in need.

About MeMy name is Carly, and I am a Special Education Teacher in New York City. I have worked with students with autism, learning disabilities, speech and language disorders, and ADHD. I have Master’s Degrees in Special Education and General Education from Hunter College with a specialization in learning disabilities. I received my Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Pennsylvania in Psychology. I have worked in both public and private schools and taught elementary age children as well as preschool. My passion for teaching has always been rooted in my belief that the most dynamic, successful education supports the whole child by meeting the student where they are and providing support based on individual need. Every child can love learning if only they are given the right tools.
